Taste, technology make sweet mix at U.S. 1 Shop
Collecting business cards can be a real treat – especially if they've been printed at Derri Cerbone's Tasty Image. Cerbone scans the cards, as well as prints, and embosses them on chocolate, creating edible images also in the form of lollipops, Christmas tree ornaments and framed photographs. "These are great gifts - plus I love chocolate", said Jupiter resident Francine Greco, who recently sought christening favors at the store.
Cases are filled with six types of fudge and domestic and Laderach Swiss truffles, pralines and more. Spiced chocolates are located with ginger, coconut-curry, paprika, allspice and more. Cerbone describes the Swiss line, priced at $2 to $3 apiece as "ridiculously expensive" but so flavorful it "dances on the tongue".
"People hate me after they eat it, because they're ruined for life", she said. She serves up chocolate-dipped bananas and cookies, creates chocolate cake toppers, gift baskets and fountains and carries novelty items such as chocolate body paint and cigars.
Customers can also order frozen chocolate banana split sundaes, fresh fruit in pastry puffs or chocolate plates and goblets.
When one customer sought a unique marriage proposal, a creative Cerbone placed a stuffed lion with a gold rose and engagement ring inside of balloon so he could "pop the question – no lion". The last Tuesday of every month at Tasty Image is Ladies Night out when, for $30per person, women can enjoy chocolate tastings and beauty-oriented programming. The next event is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug.30, 7:30-9p.m.
